non-Catholic friends

any saints, living or dead, sympathize with us more than God does. …
This is a irrelevant observation.
Paul speaks directly to and about those he understands are doing all that is required to become saints. He praises there example and ask others to emulate them.
Catholics do not so much prayer to Saints
[as THROUGH them to God], NOT
because they are more sympathetic than God;
No, we Catholics pray THROUGH them because
they STAND IN THE VERY PRESENCE OF GOD
, and then add to our prayers, there own on our behalf.]
